About Beaver Scouts (5 to 7 years of age)

The Beaver Scouts program emphasizes having fun while encouraging children to feel good about themselves, their friends and family, God, and nature. Beaver Scouts helps children learn basic social skills and gain self confidence. The Beaver Scouts program promotes activities that encourage children to:

  • find examples of their own spiritual beliefs.
  • experience and express love and joy.
  • be healthy and have good feelings about themselves.
  • develop a sense of belonging and sharing in small group activities.
  • develop a sense of cooperation through non-competitive activities.

The program is built around a lively variety of games, crafts, music, storytelling, playacting, spiritual fellowship and the outdoors. Our activities stress cooperation and teamwork, and can involve the whole family.

The outdoors is an essential part of the program. Weekend events, picnics, short nature hikes and family based camping opportunities round out the Beaver experience.

we meet in a group called a colony. The colony is split into smaller groups called lodges. There is one leader for every five Beaver Scouts. Each Beaver Scout learns a promise, law and motto to help guide their personal development.

Beaver Scout Promise: I promise to love God and help take care of the world.

Beaver Scout Law: A Beaver has fun, works hard and helps family and friends.

Beaver Scout Motto: Sharing, Sharing, Sharing.

The Leaders

unnamed (4)Ringtail (a.k.a M-R) is a mom of 3 boys and an obsessive quilter. She is in her 6th year as a leader and has a great repertoire of songs and activities to teach the Beavers. Her son Micah is in his second year of Beavers and her older boys Daniel and Patrick are in Cubs and Scouts respectively.
unnamed (3)Hawkeye (a.k.a Chris) is a busy dad of 3, Little League coach, and musician. He is in his 5th year as a leader. Hawkeye and Ringtail make a great campfire team, singing their hearts out accompanied by his guitar. His motto is “Finish Strong!” Chris’ older son Matthew is a Cub with Rachel and Jacob both in Beavers this year.

unnamedRusty (a.k.a. Kurt) is a father of 2 and is in his second year as a Beaver leader. His son, Elliott, is in his second year as a Beaver, and his older son Felix has just started Cubs. He can recognize any insect on sight!
unnamed (2)Malak (a.k.a. James) is a father of three boys, fancies himself a photographer, and likes cooking up a storm. His eldest son Rory is in his first year of Cubs, Emmett is in his second year of Beavers, and Benjamin is just a year old – so won’t be starting Scouting for a bit…
